A dental crown, also known as a cap, covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, thereby strengthening and improving its overall appearance.
A crown may be recommended to cover and support a tooth with a large filling. A crown can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking, or restore one that is already broken.
There are three main types of dental crowns. Each designed for different applications. Metal gold crowns are particularly suitable for posterior teeth exposed to heavy chewing forces.
Porcelain or ceramic crowns, offer excellent aesthetic results and closely match the appearance of natural teeth. They blend seamlessly in with your smile.
Finally, Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns combine the strength of metal with the cosmetic appeal of porcelain. This type of crown is often recommended for load-bearing teeth that are visible when you smile.
At Second Street Dental , we prioritize affordable, high-quality dental crowns and restorative treatments. Our commitment to your care ensures a personalized experience that meets your needs. And with a range of crown options available, we cater to everyone.

First visit. Very friendly staff. It was painless from start to finish. I would recommend this dental practice to anybody Second visit today. Dr. Gia Patterno and her team were Professional using the latest dental equipment. I had a crown put on a large molar and was nervous. They put me at ease and felt little to no pain 4th /5th visit and still super nice staff, gentle hygienist and dentist! Best dental practice I’ve ever been to.
I just discovered Second Street Dental and I'm so glad I did! My history with dentists and dental procedures from childhood through adulthood have been challenging to say the least and traumatic at its worst. Over the past few years, I have struggled mightily to find a dental practice that fits my needs and challenges. Then I found the team at Second Street! What a breath of fresh air! I've already had a few involved procedures in the short time I've been with them. Dr. Paterno and her team have been so great about explaining the details of the procedures, why they're needed and step by step what will occur. They've been incredibly accommodating to not only some of my physical limitations (vertigo and a horrible gag reflex) but more importantly my deep seeded anxiety around dental procedures. They've been understanding and supportive all along the way. I was having a crown put in today and after the procedure was done, we were laughing about something and I mentioned that I couldn't recall many times laughing during a dental visit before. The entire team puts you at ease and lets you know right away that your comfort and good dental health are their number one priority. I've been in the service industry leading large groups for over 40 years, and I can say without hesitation that the entire Second Street has a caring and service-oriented philosophy that clearly shines through. I'm very excited to see where my journey will lead, but I know with this kind of care it definitely will mean better oral health and an improved smile. In my opinion, you can't go wrong in choosing such a great group of caring professionals.
I had to go in for an emergency crown replacement. They got me in as soon as they could and handled the procedure very professionally and efficiently. I will be going back for all my dental needs.
I love this place. Gina gave me the first crown (mouth full of them) that looked so much like my tooth that I forget where it is. It was beautiful and didn't affect my gums. She is on leave at the moment, but I think it is staffed up, and the 4/5 is because it is or was sooo hard to get an appointment. Jean and Beth at the front desk are REAL professionals and very patient.
